5 TIPS TO PLAN A MAGICAL ENGAGEMENT SESSION AT DISNEYLAND

Engagement photos at the happiest place on earth is truly a magical experience. Follow these 5 tips for a successful experience.

1. Avoid the crowds

It might seem impossible to avoid crowds at Disneyland but you can definitely choose days when the park is less busy.

When choosing the perfect date and time for your engagement photos:

  • Pick a midweek date
  • Avoid holidays
  • Fall and late winter are ideal
  • Plan photos according to sunset
  • Take photos during parade times

Weekends and summer dates will be very busy. Other known peak times are winter break between Christmas and New years.

Pro Tip: Check local school calendars for days off. Avoid Disneyland on those days.

2. Don't Rush

Be sure to plan accordingly. Most photo sessions are between 1.5- 2.5 hours long.

  • Decide on a meeting point with photographer
  • Give yourself at least 20 minutes to park and get to the entrance
  • Morning or late afternoon are perfect times for taking photos
  • Be sure to give yourself plenty of time so you don't feel rushed

When planning your engagement session consult your photographer and determine the time of sunset and plan from there. It is important to complete most of the session during daylight.

When you don't have to rush your photos will come out looking more fun and relaxed.

3. Bring comfortable shoes

Plan on walking a lot. Everyone knows Disneyland is a big park. Outfit planning include:

  • A nice pair of shoes for the photos
  • A pair to easily change in and out of between locations
  • A small bag to carry them in
  • A change of clothes for multiple looks

It might seem obvious to wear something comfortable but it should still look good on camera. Don't let a pesky blister ruin your engagement session. This can go for men as well as women.

4. Hire a professional photographer

For the best results hire a professional engagement photographer. Added bonus if they have taken past engagement photos at Disneyland. Benefits include:

  • Planning meeting
  • A guided photoshoot
  • Knowledge of all the best photo spots
  • Facial expression and posing coach
  • A magical experience

Couples who choose to have their engagement photos taken at Disneyland are truly happy they have added this to their wedding festivities.

5. Incorporate Disney Props

Incorporate props in your session. Of course anything Disney will work. We suggest:

  • Pose with those iconic Disney balloons, no need to purchase just ask nicely.
  • Get a special treat. Mickey Mouse ice cream sandwich or a famous churro work great.
  • Custom Mickey Mouse ears. This also doubles as a souvenir.
  • Light Saber.
  • Bring something special from home.

Get creative and have fun with this. It will only add to the experience and make it more special.
